Unripe plantains porridge is a delicious and nutritious Nigerian dish made from unripe plantain. Here are the basic recipes to guide you in making unripe plantain porridge.
- Unripe plantains
- Red palm oil
- Red pepper ( tatashe) and scotch bonnets pepper ( atarodo)
- smoked or fresh fish
- crayfish
- seasoning cubes
- salt
- water
- vegetable( optional)
DIRECTIONS:
- peel the unripe plantains and cut them into small cubes.
2. blend the red peppers to make a pepper mix.
3. In a pot ,add some red palm oil and heat up, also add your chopped oil.
4. Add the diced fish or smoked fish into the pot, pepper and crayfish , salt to taste and your seasoning cubes, Add water to the pot and bring it to boil.
5. Add the diced unripe plantains to the pot and stir well, cover the pot and allow the plantains to cook until they are soft and the porridge has thickened to your desired consistency, stir occasionally to avoid burning.
Taste the porridge and adjust the seasoning if needed. You can add your ugu or spinach at this stage ( if using)
Your unripe plantains is ready to be served hot.
