A Recipe for Care: White Soup for the elderly

White soup  also known as  “ofe Nsala in igbo ,is a traditional Nigerian soup made to supply the body with adequate nutrition essential for maintaining physical and mental health as we age.

Here’s is the simple recipes.

  • Assorted meat
  • dry fish
  • yam
  • uziza seed ( grinded)
  • uda ( pounded)
  • fresh or dry pepper
  • salt
  • seasoning cubes
  • stock fish ( optional)

 

  1.   Wash your meat season with salt and cubes, add your  yam.
  2. Also add your stock fish ( if using) and the smoked fish and start cooking.
  3. When the yam is soft and tender bring it out from the pot and blend in a blender or pound it using a morter r
  4. add your grinded pepper, crayfish( optional) uda. uziza , local nutmeg ( if using.
  5. In a boiling pot add your blended yam paste, this serve as a thickener to the soup, dissolve it with a tablespoon.

add your uziza leave ( if using ) your seasoning cubes and taste for salt .

your homemade Nsala soup is ready to be serve.
