5 Easy steps to Prepare OKPA

Okpa is a local dish in Nigeria popular among the IGBOS , it is made from bambara groundnut flour , it is often eaten as a snack or light meal.

RECIPES:

  • 2 cups of Okpa flour or seed.
  • 1\ 2 cups of palm oil
  • blended crayfish ( optional )
  • fresh pepper blended.
  • Finely chopped onion( optional)
  • salt to taste.
  • water.
  • cubes( optional)

DIRECTIONS.

  1. In a bowl , pour in the Okpa flour , add palm oil to form a batter.

2. stir well to ensure there are no lumps in the mixtures.

3. Add crayfish, cubes and onion ( if using) also add salt to taste , add your pounded or blended fresh pepper.

                 

4. Prepare a steamer by pouring water into the pot and bring it to boil, scoop the mixture a put into the nylon and tie depending on your preference, place the molds into the steamer, cover the lid and cook or steam at about 45 minutes to 1 hours or until the Okpa is firm and set.

5. Once the Okpa is cooked ,remove from fire and allow it to cool before unmolding.

You can adjust the seasonings and spices in the recipes to suit your tastes preference. Feel free to add other ingredients such as chopped vegetables, boiled eggs , fish or meat to customize your okpa.
