8 quick steps in making Nigerian Okra soup.

Okra soup is one of the  popular Nigerian dishes that has a rich taste.

Here’s the simple recipes to make an okra soup.

  • fresh okra.
  • Assorted meat, ( chicken, beef , cow foot , shaki  or any other meat of your choice.
  • smoked fish.
  • blended red pepper.
  • salt to taste.
  • shrimp ( optional)
  • grounded crayfish ( optional)
  • stock cube ( knorr or maggi star)
  • Chopped Ugu leaves or Spinach.
  • blended uziza seed ( optional).

DIRECTION:

STEP 1: wash and cut off the tip or head of the okra and chopped them into small piece.

                                   

STEP 2: De_ bone your smoked fish , if using dry fish , soak it in a hot water for 2 minutes or more to soften it.

 

 

STEP 3 :  Add all the meat together in a pot season with salt, cubes and onion and steam it before adding water little at a time depending on the quantity of okra to avoid the soup becoming  watering. cook  it till the meats are done, bring it out  and pour inside a bowl.

STEP 4: In a separate pot, heat the oil over a low heat ,add the diced onion and blended pepper.

STEP 5 : Add  the stock or the meat water, the cooked meat, dry fish , smoked fish and shrimp ( if using )  stir and let it simmer for few minutes.

STEP 6: Add the chopped okra , blended uziza( if using)  stir, let the soup boil for 3 or 4 minutes.

STEP 7: Add the seasoning cubes and salt if needed.

STEP 8: finally add your diced ugu vegetable or spinach and let it simmer for 2 minutes.

your tasty and flavorful okra soup is ready to be serve with any swallow of your choice.
